Barron Hanson

I'm a fifth-generation Nowra local, a husband and father, and the founder of Be Here Nowra, a community happiness project helping people reconnect with themselves through Vedic Meditation. Before I learnt to meditate ten years ago, I was living in New York and running a fast-paced creative business with a team of twelve. Meditation gave me a sense of calm, energy and adaptability I did not know was possible. It did not remove the demands of life, but it changed how I responded to them and it showed me the practice could fit into even the busiest schedule. That experience inspired me to come home and share it with my community. I've since helped hundreds of people learn a simple technique they can use in the middle of real life: busy careers, young families, uncertainty and stress.

I’m a wife and mother, a Vedic Meditation teacher, and part of the team behind Be Here Nowra. I learnt to meditate in 2014, when I was carrying a great deal of stress and putting enormous pressure on myself to get everything right. Like many people, I believed I needed to be better, do more or somehow become someone different in order to be happy. The practice changed that. Over time, I began to recognise that it wasn’t turning me into someone new, but allowing me to experience more of who I had always been. I’ve been teaching since 2017, and my approach is warm, intuitive, grounded and direct. I meet people where they are while gently encouraging them to discover something deeper for themselves. I love seeing students soften and become more available for themselves, their families and their communities.

Hey there, I'm Lauren but you can call me Lozz. With over 16 years of experience in the Australian Army, I'm no stranger to high-stakes environments, strict attention to detail, and chasing peak performance. But while I spent years optimising my physical fitness and mental toughness, I always felt like a crucial piece of the puzzle was missing. That all changed when I discovered Vedic Meditation at Be Here Nowra. The profound shift in my energy, adaptability and daily joy was so undeniable that it sparked a new calling. Now, as a teacher, it is my absolute privilege to help you unlock your full potential, conquer stress, and truly find your own joy.

I grew up in Nowra and found myself drawn back, so here I am, teaching meditation in one of the greatest parts of the world. I used to pride myself on giving "110%". The truth is there's no such thing — just people pushing past their limits and masking burnout, and I was one of them. I learnt to meditate as a small business owner, hoping to gain more energy, run on less sleep and squeeze more hours out of the day. What happened instead was better. I felt rested, made clearer decisions, and handled daily pressures with more ease and calm. I wasn't as reactive or stressed, and those around me noticed the change. That's when I decided to become a teacher. If your life could do with a little less stress and a little more happiness, meditation is my number one recommendation.

I'm a former Australian Army soldier and now a meditation teacher. It started with a four-day course with Barron, learning all about Vedic Meditation. As I stuck with the practice, I noticed I was meeting everyday challenges with more grace, and handling the stresses that inevitably pop up in life. The new reserves of energy and adaptability let me move on from my job in the army, learn new skills and work with emergency services overseas — all the while keeping my practice as a close friend that was always there to bring a renewed sense of calm and energy when I needed it. After field testing the technique for a few years, I had all the proof I needed, so I applied to become a teacher. Now I get to give this easy, simple technique to anyone who wishes to benefit from it.
